We discovered this site while doing research for the MCAS and came across it on the library page in the Kindergarten section!  There are sound effects and fun facts, all about your body.  If you go to the "Yuckiest Site on the Internet," you can have some more fun!

This site is from the Scott Foresman Reading Website and it goes along with the story, "From the Diary of Leigh Botts."  It shows many of the ways that invention has changed the way we live.  Did you know toothpaste was invented in 3000 BC?  Check it out!

"The Invention Dimension is a fun-filled and at times wacky approach to making learning about invention exciting for the kid in all of us."  This site is very helpful in learning about inventions.  It includes the Inventor of the Week, as well as some fun games.

This website is from PBS kids.  There are some great activities you can try at home with your own materials.  Some of the activities we have tried in school, or we may try, but each time you do a science experiment, it is different!

The contraption is already made for you, but now you need to manipulate it to make it work.  Try moving your mouse over the various devices and changing some of them to make it work.  If you get stuck there are hints and tips to help you.

One of the games we have played on this site is the magnet game.  It is very challenging, but a lot of students have already gotten far.  Try it out!

We have used this site to learn about simple machines, but there are other neat activities as well.  You can go into the simple machines activity by clicking start, or you can choose one of the other activities.  Ms. Kramer says the knee surgery is a lot of fun, but the photographs are a bit gross.  So, consider yourself warned!

Here is another EdHeads site to find out more about compound machines.

These Rube Goldberg machines from a Japanese TV show are great!  There are some really intersting machines!
