The Lexington Elementary Schools use The University of Chicago's Everyday Mathematics Program.  According to the UCSMP website, students in the Everyday Mathematics program "acquire knowledge and skills, and develop an understanding of mathematics from their own experience."

The program was developed to spiral concepts and skills, which means that some of the same concepts and skills introduced in the earlier grades are revisited and extended in fifth grade.  The idea is that repetition, exposure, and the opportunity to review and practice skills will help to solidify these concepts.
