*******Status:POSTPONED
until THURSDAY, JAN. 21*****

(JAN. 25 and 26 are the cloud dates)

VIEWING WINDOW: JAN. 21, AND JAN. 25, or 26 on the FIRST CLEAR NIGHT

WHEN:
Bowman, Fiske, Estabrook: Come at 6:15 PM
Bridge, Harrington, Hastings: Come at 6:30 PM

WHAT: SEE craters on the Moon, and Jupiter, the king of the planets, just as Galileo saw them 400 years ago (small telescope) and more (larger telescopes)!  Watch the giant hunter Orion chase Taurus the bull and peek into a star nursery. See another galaxy, the Great Spiral Nebula in the constellation Andromeda.

WHO: Fourth Graders and parents only, please.

WHERE: Note change in location.  CENTRAL OFFICE,  enter at drive for Harrington School, 328 Lowell St.  Park at Harrington and walk over to the area behind the Central Office.  (Old Harrington School).  Keep headlights away from viewing area.

BRING: A flashlight covered with red tissue paper or a piece of red balloon. Bring binoculars if you have them.  This helps eyes to stay sensitive to dim stars.  Bring the star chart on the back of the Planet Party flier.

If you can help with a telescope or have questions, contact K-5 Science Coordinator Fran Ludwig at 781-861-2580 X210 or ludwig@sch.ci.lexington.ma.us

•   See if you can PREDICT the sky conditions for the Planet Party!

Try:  The Clear Sky Clock for Chelmsford, MA (8 PM is 20 on the clock.  The darker blue the square is, the clearer the sky.  Click the square to see computer satellite view prediction):

Another way to predict is to look at the satellite pictures of clouds and their motion:  http://www.wunderground.com/US/Region/Northeast/2xpxIRSatellite.html
